As defined by Wikipedia, Sleep is a naturally recurring state of mind and body, characterized by altered consciousness, relatively inhibited sensory activity, reduced muscle activity and inhibition of nearly all voluntary muscles. In a simpler term, sleep is a condition where the human body is subjected to a temporary rest to regain vitality and sustainability. A better explanation can be likened to the downtime of machines in a manufacturing industry. A downtime is placed on machines to create an opportunity for them to regain the potentials for optimized efficiency.
Sleep holds a very strong impact on your mental and physical stability, which apparently determines your daytime productivity, energy and emotional balance. Studies have shown that sleeping disorders are the product of bad daytime habits such as excess exposure to light. The blue light emitted by your phone, tablet, computer, or TV is considered to be disruptive and possibly impede the sleeping process.
With these being said, it is imperative to develop a good lifestyle that will aid in healthy sleep. Regular exercise is the most fundamental healthy habit which improves sleep. This can be scheduled within a certain period of the day, ideally the morning period. Having a good diet is another way of getting good sleep. Try as much as possible to cut-down or totally exclude the intake of caffeinated drinks, as they strongly affect the ease of sleep. Reducing the intake of sugary foods and refined carbs will also go a long way because they also trigger wakefulness at night.
Another underrated but effective way of improving your sleep is by ensuring your head is clear. It is almost impossible not to encounter challenges in the workplace, marriage, and other departments of life, but see to it that you prevent these from affecting your sleep. Try as much as possible to take pending issues away from your thoughts to improve your sleep.
